The Only Opinion You Should Be Concerned With!
Look. To be honest with you, going after your aspirations in life is not a journey that those around you will understand. It sucks to hear that, but you should know it from the get go. I still remember the initial conversations that I had with my family and friends about wanting to be a model, and how I was lectured, judged, and dismissed for wanting what I wanted. And when your loved ones don't see eye to eye with you regarding the life that you want to make for yourself, it can be earth-shattering; you'll feel so discouraged from taking on these endeavors that you may just give up. Don't.
In another case, maybe you have your friends' and families' support, but maybe it's the industry itself that you see a lot of rejection in. You don't get that job offer you wanted, even though you know you were qualified. You don't get the next TEN job offers, even though you know you were qualified. You might be studying for graduate school entrance exams, college exams, and can't hit the marks that you know you can. And you begin to question your credibility, your knowledge, and your capability. Like man, maybe I shouldn't have been on this path to begin with. Don't.
You see, the only thing that matters is what you think of yourself. It all starts with YOU. If you think you are capable of achieving something or having something, then you stick to that belief until you get what is yours. And trust me, I know it's hard when you don't have the support of others, but it is only the beginning that is the hardest. You have heard that plenty a times, I'm sure. In the beginning, you only have your own vision to keep you going, and that is it. Those around you will not understand, but stick to your guns. Eventually people will see that you are serious and begin to respect your passion. But they will only respect your passion if YOU respect your passion. See how it all begins with you?
Like I mentioned in the beginning, my best friends thought my modeling career was a joke. My sister judged me for even wanting to do what I'm doing, and my girlfriend at the time didn't even want to see my pictures. But I stuck to what I was passionate about and I kept at my craft. I've come so far already-- to the point where my family and friends are now encouraging me, telling me to be patient and to keep at it! My mom tells me not to worry, my dad suggests new approaches to getting my break, and my best friends suggest new photoshoot ideas. And I also have the support of 10k+ followers that keep me going everyday. But I wouldn't have any of that if I gave up after being discouraged from the feedback I initially received.
So be the cat that sees itself as a tiger. You are a fucking tiger. Go out there and get what's yours. BEAST MODE!!! 💪🏽🙌🏽
